The-Quartet

The-Quartet have released two widely acclaimed albums on Helium Records in the UK. Its creative heart is Jack Hues and Sam Bailey who cite an exhilarating mixture of influences including Thelonius Monk, Brad Mehldau, Radiohead, Charles Mingus, Pink Floyd and Miles Davies. Despite radically different musical backgrounds, they have become an intuitive and prolific creative partnership. A gifted songwriter, composer and founder member of Wang Chung, Jack has a string of top 20 hits, film soundtracks (including ‘To Live & Die In LA’) and production credits to his name. Sam is a classically trained pianist, a former pupil of the late Ronald Smith, who brings enormous talent as a composer and improviser to the process.

Radio plays on BBC Radios 2, 3 and 6 with a Live Session in July 2008 for Stuart Maconie on BBC 6 Music’s Freakzone.

They have toured extensively, to rave reviews, in the south east of England and played at The Barbican Theatre as part of the prestigious London Jazz Festival.
